Feel Good story of the day: K9 tracks missing child over two miles in freezing cold!

The persistent efforts of K9 Biza and his handler, Officer Ljunggren, led to the successful rescue of a missing 12-year-old child, as announced by the Auburn Police Department. On January 31, authorities received a report that the child had wandered away from home at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Given the freezing temperatures, a prompt response was crucial in locating the child. Consequently, numerous Auburn Police Officers and Massachusetts State Troopers were mobilized in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn to conduct the search. However, it was the partnership between Officer Ljunggren and his loyal K9 companion, Biza, that ultimately made a significant difference in the outcome.

“Biza was able to pick up a scent and began to track the scent. K9 Biza tracked for a length of over two miles and led Officers to an area where evidence showed that the child had been present a short time earlier,” APD said in a statement.

Additional officers converged on the area and found the child a short time later.

Reflecting on the successful outcome, APD expressed immense pride in K9 Biza’s unwavering dedication and the collaborative efforts of all involved.

“We are proud of the hard work put in by K9 Biza and are happy to report a positive outcome!” stated a spokesperson for the department.
