The cost of summer vacations has jumped a whopping 15% for this summer over the summer of 2023 according to Nerdwallet. If you’re a family of four going on vacation that number really adds up. The cost of a family of four 1 week vacation is now… $7,936 according to GoGoCharters. That breaks down to $1,132 dollars a day.
How does the $7,936 family vacation break down:
- $1,132 a day
- $232 a day on food
- $214 a day on hotel
- Domestic flights average – $247
- Rental cars: $47 a day
- Gas – $3.47 a gallon
Obviously more expensive flights, hotels and food can really add up. According to Nerdwallet nearly 50% of people are planning a summer vacation this year that requires a hotel or flight.
The Nerdwallet survey found that elevated prices on checked bags, restaurants, and recreational experiences have all contributed to making vacations increasingly unaffordable for the average family.
