Denver International Airport is sixth among U.S. airports for firearms found in carry-on luggage in 2024.
This past year and 92% of the guns found in carry-on’s by TSA were LOADED.
The TSA officers at DIA discovered 166 firearms in 2024, that number is down from 178 guns found in 2023. But it should be noted that it is 2.5 times more than a decade ago and above the six-year average since 2019.
TSA released its annual report of firearms found nationwide at airport screenings throughout the year, and like other years, DIA made the list for some of the most firearms found at the checkpoint.
According to TSA, security screened over 24 million departing passengers and crew at DIA in 2024, and among these travelers, TSA said it discovered 166 firearms in travelers’ carry-on luggage. This comes at a rate of one firearm discovery for every 148,490 travelers screened.
