Here are a few of the submission we chose to share with our KOSI 101 listeners:

“My daughter and son-law have really had a rough year. First her dad was diagnosed with breast cancer, she found out she carries the gene for breast cancer with a 80% chance of getting beat and ovarian cancer. Now their first born child was diagnosed with a fatal heart defect. The baby will be born a few days after Christmas and is only expected to live a short time. Now they found out that their 47 year old furnace went out. They have so many expenses that it is hard to keep up with the medical bills, funeral costs for their child, and now the furnace. It’s so sad, they both work two jobs and they are the most caring people, always giving to charity and being the first one to help others, but this has been a really hard year for them. it would be such an amazing gift for them not to have one more expense and worry. Thank you!”

“We are a household consisting of 4 generations. The ages start at 6 and end at 92. Our household consists of 3 Diabetics, 1 person with Multiple Sclerosis, Graves Disease, a Cancer Survivor, Celiac Disease, A-Fib, multiple allergies (food and pollen) and Epilepsy. As you can imagine, we honestly do not have the money to purchase a new system. The money we have goes to medical supplies and medicines. We purchased this home in October of 2016. The home was built in 1993. The home has the original system and we consistently have problems with the furnace and ac unit. The 92 year old goes around the house covered in what I like to call a cocoon wrap. His electric heater is on 24/7. I (Multiple Sclerosis) need to be cool during the summer to prevent lesions from forming on my brain and spine. We took on our grandson to keep him out of the system and we took on my father-in-law as he does not have enough money to get him into an assisted living center. So, we purchased this home not even thinking about the furnace. I pray this qualifies us to receive the furnace. Thank you very much.”

“I would like to write on behalf of my mother in law. I’ve known her for almost 9 years. We live in a house of 6 people and is always working to pay the bills and she has helped me and her son so much with the kids and always finding a way to help us in our time of need. It hasn’t been easy on her to take care of 6 people she has a bone disease and her feet are always hurting and swollen every day. Lisa has the kindest heart and she is a lpn and always worrying about her patients and her family before herself. I would like to do something nice for her in return. She has lived in the same house for 10+years and could use a new furnace. Thank you for taking the time to read my submission”
