Colorado’s Stanley Hotel is One of the Most Haunted Hotels in America, says USA Today.

It’s officially Halloween month, so if you’re looking for a place to really get spooked, look to the place USA Today calls one of the most haunted hotels in America.

The publication named the hotel in Estes Park, along with nine other places they consider, to be the most haunted in the country.

Here is what they said about the Stanley Hotel:

“This dramatic, massive white hotel seems to rise out of the Colorado mountains in the otherwise quaint and old-fashioned tourist town of Estes Park. The Stanley Hotel’s haunted history stretches far back, but it became famous in the ‘70s after author Stephen King visited. He set the scene for his best-selling book (and the subsequent movie), “The Shining,” at the Stanley. Today, guests visit the hotel to see the long, spooky hallways and listen to “Redrum.”

Guests have reported odd experiences all over the hotel, including items being moved, lights turning on and off, piano music, the sounds of children running and laughing in the halls, and guests waking up tucked firmly into their beds, as nannies would do for young children. Room 217, where King stayed, is said to be haunted by a former chief housekeeper who still tends to the room, unpacking and putting away guests’ belongings among other things. Wholly embracing their legacy, the hotel shows the uncut, R-rated version of “The Shining” on a continuous loop on Channel 42 and leads a variety of ghost and paranormal tours.
