Colorado Bear Bites Camper Near Trinidad

North American black bear Phoenix in the drive-through enclosure at Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire. Four cubs – two males called Harvard and Colorado, and two females called Aspen and Maple – have been living with mum Phoneix in a separate enclosure since they were born 16 months ago but have now moved into the main enclosure. This is obviously not Yogi Bear stealing a picnic basket. A guy was camping near Trindad, just laying in his hammock when he says a bear came up and bit his arm! Ouch!
The camper says he didn’t have any food or anything nearby to lure the bear, but he was laying in his hammock at night when he heard a noise, turned on his headlamp and then saw the bear next to him.
Unfortunately for the bear, once a CO bear attacks a human he is considered dangerous and will most likely be humanely euthanized.
CPW was notified and has set a trap for the bear, but so far no bear.
What would you do if you encountered a bear while camping?
