Blizzard warning for Castle Rock area, snow for Denver metro
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Elbert/Central and East Douglas Counties Above 6000 Feet-
Including the cities of Castle Rock, Fondis, Kiowa, Elbert, and Larkspur until 9 a.m. Monday morning.
Widespread blowing snow could create dangerous conditions on the roads along with dropping between 4 and 8 inches of accumulation by Monday morning, said the NWS.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph, especially east of Interstate 25 are possible and “snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less” advised the NWS, adding difficult travel should be expected and “hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.”
Denver’s snow totals could range between 2 to 4 inches which is something we’re used to but, it’s freezing wet snow and is sure to cause problems for the Monday morning commute.
