5 Ways to Cool Down in Colorado

By Holly Cameron on July 26, 2019

Here are some fun ways to cool down in Colorado on especially hot summer days:

  • Head to the mountains

It’s scientifically proven that the further you elevate yourself in to the mountains the more the outdoor temperature drops. Therefore, treat yourself to a staycation and enjoy the good ole’ wonder of the Rocky Mountains found right in our own backyard!

  • Swim, slide, and splash

Water World, Pirates Cove and Elitch Gardens are all awe worthy water parks. Pirates Cove is a great place to bring the kids, while not breaking the bank, or check out Water World for thrills and chills that anyone would love.

If water parks aren’t really your thing, Boulder Reservoir, or Grand Lake, offer the perfect beach day get-away without even leaving our landlocked state. Pack your picnic and enjoy!

  • Ice cream, you scream

A state full of cows is ought to produce some great Ice Cream right? Some of our faves include:

Bonnie Brae Ice Cream

Little Man Ice Cream

Glacier Homemade Ice Cream

Or just as delicious Ice Cream Alternatives include:

Gelato Boy

Ben and Jerry’s Vegan Ice Cream

Frozen Matter Frozen Yogurt

Goodtimes Frozen Custard

With so many Frozen Treats you’re bound to cool off and satisfy your sweet tooth all in on sitting!

  • Movies, Museums, & Malls

If going anywhere outdoors sounds too dreadful to you on hot summer days, keep in mind that there are also many indoor activities to choose from all over this epic state!

Cinema critic? There are a ton of great movies playing right now!

Fashonista? Spend the day inside one of the many indoor malls, such as Park Meadows or Flat Irons Crossing.

Nature lover? The Museum of Nature and Science is one for the books and makes for the perfect day date, or some educational family fun.

  • Stay in, save up!

Last, but not least, if you’re in total save mode, then there is nothing like staying home and getting creative!

You could have a game night, or a spa day. Cook something you’ve always wanted to try, or finally finish that project you’ve been putting off. The possibilities are endless if you really put your mind to it!
