POSITION: Executive Producer

POSITION PURPOSE:  Produce entertaining and informative programming. Manage Talk Show Producers and make full contributions to show assignments and work effectively with on-air host(s).  Execute station brand image on a show by show basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. WORK in tandem with on-air talk show host(s) in producing compelling talk show programming and provide guidance and feedback to enhance his/her on-air presentation.
  2. EXECUTE station brand image on a show by show basis.
  3. EVALUATE current sports news or events each day and offer suggestions on how those events might be presented on the air in a way that is compelling to all listeners.
  4. RESEARCH possible interview topics and guests by careful study of developing news through printed media (magazines, newspapers, books, the Internet, etc.) and by phone and/or personal contact with community and national organizations.
  5. LEAD station producers as a team. Coaching producers on managing talent, selecting topics, presentation and execution on and off the air.  Managing their schedules, vacations, fill-ins, etc.
  6. ACTIVE KNOWLEDGE of current local/national sports news events to be able to add to radio segments.
  7. ACTIVE KNOWLEDGE of pop culture. Assist with keeping the show updated on the latest trends in pop culture.
  8. BE an advocate of daily change and improvement of producers, hosts, on-air products and promotions, as well as an active participant in future station-wide changes and movements.
  9. BE the eyes and ears of the station. Listen often and report both positives and negatives to the Program Director.
  10. SHARE AND BRAINSTORM ideas which could bring about programming continuity. Work cooperatively with other producer(s) and with other stations, for news ideas.  Fill in for other producer(s) as necessary.
  11. CREATE new approaches to station’s talk programming.
  12. WORK closely with the web department to develop story ideas, blog ideas, picture and video ideas, and help create unique online content while coordinating between the department and Talk Shows.
  13. ASSIST on-air host(s) in producing daily promotional spots.
  14. ASSIST in writing and developing creative imaging that is consistent with the overall brand message.
  15. MAINTAIN confidentiality by not discussing internal Bonneville Denver matters, company strategies, client’s proprietary information, personnel matters, wage and salary information or any sensitive information with clients, competitors, listeners, the media or inappropriately with co-workers, and by not distributing our proprietary research or other information to our competitors.
  16. MANAGE stress effectively and maintain a positive energy with the team (Producers, Techs, Hosts, etc.).
  17. OVERSEE the staff of technical operators, which includes hiring, designating responsibilities, scheduling.
  18. BE RESPONSIBLE for the operations and execution of ESPN Denver 1600 KEPN by updating imaging and programming schedule.
  19. CONSISTENTLY work hours required. Work more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc.
  20. WORK in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  21. BE THE LEADER of a team environment. Work and communicate effectively with other teams and departments.
  22. MAINTAIN a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients.
  23. PROJECT an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
  24. BE ACTIVE in personal growth and development. Use this knowledge to improve daily experiences.
  25. ATTEND evaluation sessions and staff meetings as needed. Includes being knowledgeable and conversant with the FCC EEO Rules effective March 10, 2003, and understanding the compliance issues that safeguard the station’s FCC license.
  26. TAKE A PROACTIVE ROLE in supporting Bonneville’s policy to prevent harassment of any kind within the workplace, at off-site places of company business and at company-sponsored social venues.
  27. ASSURE that employees working in your department will receive annual performance appraisals. Guarantee that employees will sign Conflict of Interest and Payola annually.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Two years post high school education in communication/journalism with skills in the following areas:  booking guests, broadcast journalism, writing, computer and operational skills, related field, or equivalent.

Three (3) years of experience as a producer in a broadcast journalism environment, professional or collegiate level.  Knowledge of newswire services and a working knowledge of computer skills.

Aggressive attitude with a strong desire to advance in the broadcasting media.

Quick learner who is fully committed to meeting the challenge.

Strong desire to work at the state’s largest and most respected radio station.

Multi-tasking pro.  Ability to be organized with the capability to concentrate on more than one event at a time, able to follow written and verbal instructions under moderate supervision.

Proven ability to work under pressure to meet daily/weekly deadlines.  Ability to be precise and accurate both in announcing and production.

Self-starter with the ability to assure that shift personnel receive material for broadcast on time as the services performed affect company image, clients, and listening audience.  Errors may incur financial or time loss.

Watch top TV programs (sports and pop culture) and read major publications for show content ideas.

Proven ability to handle stress.

Work effectively in a team environment.

  10. May require in-house audition writing and producing information for broadcast presentation.
  11. Ability to give, develop, receive and maintain effective written and oral communication with all staff members during the performance of assigned job responsibilities.
  12. Knowledge of social media platforms and willingness to use them to promote show content and station personalities.
  13. Ability to update show/station website as needed.

POSITION: Staff Accountant

POSITION OBJECTIVE:   Perform various accounting and analytical duties including: journal, general ledger and reconciliation duties as requested, analysis of financial and business indicators; accounts payable and receivable functions will also be required, though most of these functions are handled at Corporate Office. Contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the business office in a team atmosphere.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2-yr Accounting degree or extensive Accounting experience including payables, payroll and general ledger applications.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles essential.
  • Must be computer literate. High level proficiency with Excel a definite advantage.
  • Desire to improve business systems and efficiency.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in a time-sensitive manner with minimum supervision.
  • Good organizational skills and neatness a must.

Must thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and have the ability to interact effectively with various personalities. Must be able to provide support to and work effectively with sales, programming and finance. Experience with Traffic Software, as well as familiarity with music, talk, sports formats and networks .  Wide Orbit and NexGen is a plus. Bonneville Denver is looking for an organized, thorough and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Part Time Promotional Support for 98.5 KYGO, Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan, KOSI 101.1, and 1600 The Zone.  This is primarily a clerical position up to 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in planning, developing and execution of station and client promotions
  • Organizing and maintaining promotional assets and systems
  • Executing contests including maintaining and securing confidential winner information
  • Contacting listeners for prize pickup, completing required paperwork, filing and storing winner info
  • Other duties as assigned

Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision, have excellent communication and organizational skills, strong general troubleshooting ability and have reliable transportation.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).  Experience with Promotional assets and systems (CSC Contesting, Promosuite, Sharepoint) a plus.

POSITION: Part Time Promotions Assistants

Bonneville Denver is looking for an outgoing, organized, enthusiastic and fun individual to join our team as a Promotions Assistant for 98.5 KYGO, Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan, KOSI 101.1, and 1600 The Zone.

Candidates must be 21 or over with a valid Colorado Driver’s License and possesses a clean driving record.  Individuals will work under the Marketing Director as part of the Promotions Department.

Duties include, but are not limited to: organization and maintenance of promotional assets and systems, website maintenance, copywriting, some audio production, some reception tasks, fulfilling prizes, executing contests, vehicle fleet maintenance (non-mechanic), setup and operation of live remote broadcast vehicles, equipment and PA systems, working cooperatively with programming, engineering and sales personnel. Must be able to work effectively unsupervised, have excellent communications and organizational skills, and strong general troubleshooting ability. Some heavy lifting may be required.  Must have reliable transportation and must be available to work weekends and odd hours. This is a part-time position.
